This 40 million and 365,000 square foot, fully self contained facility was designed for 11 wide body aircraft gates. It is able to handle 2000 passengers an hour and 60 flights per day and had a full service Federal Inspection Services facility plus support areas, which included a 13 store concessions mall to serve the travelling public. This project was designed and built under an unconventional fast track approach which allowed a total of 16 months for design, preparation of construction documents, bidding and construction, achieved under an extremely tight program in stages, all of which was managed by a minimal team, composed of the architect and Eastern Airlines facilities staff. An innovative addition to the building was the location of ticket counters perpendicular to the street.
