This is the most recent terminal expansion designed by MGA at LMMIA was originally intended for the processing of group travelers arriving and departing through San Juan. Key objectives of the project were to help reduce the constraints placed on the existing terminal facilities during the peak cruise season, accommodate Convention Center and Sports Coliseum group travel and enhance the visitors experience through SJU. Completed in 2010, it is a 265,000 SF five gate facility with state of the art mechanical, electrical, passenger information and security systems as well as aircraft support technologies, and a 20 million dollar in-line Explosives Detection Baggage Handling System (EDS) that is unique in the Caribbean.
